Caught a mid-week no brainer movie with N last night :) And I could enjoy a good dinner before that :)
Previously 7pm shows were never possible. And even if we managed to reach there in time, we almost always have to skip dinner.. :)
The HANGOVER was totally good. Had the whole theatre laughing throughout the show :) *thumbs up* SAFRA card gives you a good discount @ GV. I dont really like to spend more than S$8 on brainlessflicks like these, even if they are good :) S$850 worth shows are more for Harry Potter, transformers, final destiny and the likes
AND, I totally forgot about tomorrow's AM appointment :( Now I gotto reschedule it so that I can fit bikey into the AM slot.
ANYWAYS its TGIF and I am intending to knock off early today! :)

having good hours of sleep continuously really gives you a good and fresh mind to:
1) plop on those masks at least once a week
2) hit the wheels more like a pro, not like a nervous wreck
3) consume those Vits n supplements religiously
4) wake up feeling energised!!
All the total opposites from the sleep deprived times. Although still abit pea brained..hopefully that gets better soon~!
Been running for the 4th consecutive week at ECP with N, sometimes with some good company.. the Miyashitas are still greeeeatly missed tho~! :(
I bet N would nv get another running pal who d put in all his efforts to chase him hot on his heels. That's the thing about Japanese. They put in 101% effort in anything they do, be it work, eat or play. :)
We introduced 2 new members into our family. Am still thinking of names for them now.. till then, I shall post the pics only this weekend..
Am feeling a little hyped over the news of a triathlon for me!!! whaha!
a MINI one which sounds v v v do-able:
1) Swim 200m
2) Cycle 5km
3) Run 2km
Achievable right???!!
BUT who swims frog style in the open sea??????? ;p

i think things are settling into my life bit by bit now. I m beginning to enjoy the work and the 9 to 5 routine.. and have started introducing a walk-murphy and an exercise regime into the daily lifestyle :)
Was talking to an ex-collic who is still THERE this morning who informed me about her search status. Someone texted me yesterday noon to ask me what I usu bring to interviews... Somehow, things are made more transparent to you when you become an outsider :). But i know I am obliged to keep mum about so-and-so's interviews, so-and-so's search etc etc..
Talking to this ex-collic this morning made me feel that I am indeed v v blessed. I really must say, those days of prayers worked! As cliche as it may sound and as much as I hate to admit, I really thank HIM for the job. I guess going Sunday services with N really opened me up a little to other faiths. I used to find it silly when people thank HIM for their jobs. What happened to "Fate lies in your own hands???"
Although I would soooo verrrry much like to attribute my own success to my good command of chinese language (HEY! I translated a whole chinese article during my interview!), my net worth of 4-yr experience and okay school results, and maybe the set of acceptable interview skills i brot into the room with me... I still think I needed that chance and luck to be finally shortlisted by both the immediate boss and the big boss. I needed that spiritual faith to keep me going while I waited for a reply and I just prayed and prayed...
and I got the phone call! :)
It doesnt hurt to know that I have actually been job searchin since end of 2006 and have been to a coupla of failed interviews.. I din seek the spiritual faith then. and they nv called me back...
I witnessed this wonder of blessings in one of my tertiary term. One day, a fren texted me during the study period and told me he d pray for me for the exams.
Guess what?!
That was the only semester I scored almost straight As!! :)
I feel : BLESSED!!
And I am thankful! :)

the few freebies that always entice me while working in the west end are the long snoozy cab rides, cab reimbursements, cheap lunches (most of the time) and ultimate savings rate due to lower entertainment rate (who wants to go to town if you have a cab tt directly transports u home??!). But the price you have to pay?? Much more!
settle for the miserable one stall which only sells cai fan most of the time, compete with the many labors for tt one plate of lunch, subject yourself to the power of the monopoly player (my lunch here cost S$3.50 for 1 meat + 2 veg), expose yourself to the more polluted air (my fingers are so so so dry now!), expose yourself to lecherous hoots while you travel that short distance between office and the canteen. bth.
So I normally tabao lunch back and eat in the comfort and safety of the office. Back when I was still working in the ex-firm with an ex ex collic, we held rice eating performance in the hawker premise in TUAS. I choose not to his time.

PLOP!
It has never occured to me that I would become such a klutz!! I thought clumsiness is associated with fattiness??!! I thought only characters like feitian will fall down?? Maybe its a sign of being associated with characters of her kind.. and as already evidenced by the digits I saw on the scale while @ the docs yday...I almost fainted when the nurse took my weight..
So, for the THIRD time in consecutive THREE months, I fell. Right smack in the middle of heavy traffic public places. That makes it one fall a month.
Batam 1-3 May 2009
Tripped over the small step up to the shopping centre main door. left knee took the cushion and bled. D brought me to buy a plaster immediately. Pus came out of the wound and I covered it with Gauze for at least one week.
Bintan 19-21 June 2009
Walked on some sloping stones beside the road @ the market to let the motorbikes past. It wasnt slippery because I was on my CROCS! Aunty and I were admiring the swallows flying above our head when I slipped down on a wet patch on the stone. The stoney floor scratched my right leg before the right knee cushioned the fall. This time round, the right knee bled...and the shorts were stained with the wet stuff from the floor. EWW!
Singapore Hong Lim Complex 17 July 2009
Just when I thought Indonesia is my curse and i vowed never to go back there again, I plopped in my very hometown this morning. I was walking along the aisle between the foodie centre and the row of shops when I just crumbled down. I stood up, looked back and saw a wet gooey patch on the floor. **WTH** there were sooooo many pairs of eyes from the foodie centre and the ah peks sitting around the stone chairs who were looking as this girl, in her pretty Bonito dress which just arrived yday, took her plunge onto the floor.
Now I conclude Indo isnt my curse. YAY!! My weight is. Double YAY!! I am becoming a klutz, a clumsy fatty :( :( :(
But I think N will still love me.. :)

this drive up to the peranakan n baba civilisation, the Miyashitas will be greatly missed! :(
Mrs Miyashita has been learning peranakan/Nyonya dishes all these while and was always generous in blessing N & I with her dishes.. it was through them that N&I started tasting the Nyonya dishes at local Nyonya restaurants (i even had one opp my ex office where I worked for 4 yrs but i didnt know..) on our last trip to JB, they impromptu-ly told us that they would like to drop off at the bus station to get tix to Melaka. So they did. And stayed for a night.
that's how life should be.
excitement!
I think we get along well with each other because of the similarity in characters. we JUST DO IT. And we don't take agessss to decide if we want to do it.
I was just scrolling through the old yahoo inbox and saw this email exchange we had on 11 August for our TW trip. within 2 hours of correspondence, we had the trip firmed up (ie dates, hotel to stay in...). and by the next working day, Mrs Miyashita had already booked everything for us. If any planning was ever involved, it could just be that casual statement, "let's go on holiday together LEH!" (Mr Miya has fondly adopted Singlish as his mother language after knowing us :) No one can ever say talk cork sing song as funnily as he does!!).
Due to v v heavy work commitments then, no one really plan the itinerary for the trip. All I got was a ROUGH sketch of XMD from Angela one day while I had to clear some work-related issue with her. SO, equipped with that crumpled giam-cai looking rough sketch paper which was our only treasure map to the famous Ah Zong Mian Sian and the bubble tea next door, and which got Mr Miyashita laughing all over due to its giam cai state and CMI map sketch which showed XMD like a flower, we found our way to XMD and the famous Mian Xian + Bubble tea. We ventured a little bit more and found a yummy Xue Bing with heaps of fruits @ one of the entrances to XMD.
Everyday was unplanned.
Everyday was a surprise :)
But we always ended up @ Ah Zong mian xian, even if we are full. Some things just remain the same, like how our friendship will continue to be the same, even if they are now far far away...
You guys are being MISSED!!! :(

gonna make some strawberry yoghurt muffins soon!! I am into baking again!

Trips coming up next!!!!
18th - 19th July : Melaka road trip (leisure)
29th - 30th Aug : BKK spree (leisure)
Wanted to post up my work travel schedule but i decided against it :)
Soooo sooooo happy this week cos I have a short getaway to look forward to this weekend!
I think we need to plan weekend trips in order to stay hyped up n productive during the week!! :) it works for me!
Shall get back to reading report # 2 (#1 was done last week!) :) :)
D has been enquiring sooo much about racer bikes. that gets him hyped up n excited too!! n he blatantly ignored every other thing tt i mentioned in my sms sss to him other than those bike-related sentences! I tend to go yada yada on every single thing in one sms (to maximise the usage of that 5 cent sms), but he only gives replies on the bikes! so irritating!!
it has always been his dream to take part in a triathlon. I just hope he will make a wise decision on the purchase and pray I do not get entwined into his new hobby this time. I am an old woman with a cartilage problem and who needs to take Glucosamine to build it all up again!
Speaking of biking, I m gona miss the ex-super-cool mentor group nite cycling cum supper cum sunrise trip coming 28th - 29th Aug cos we will be jetting off on 29th morning :( I got soo carried away while time-racing with Jetstar to get the best weekend deal that I totally forgot about the biking appointment I made when I reached the last weekend of Aug on the Jetstar online booking page.
*sigh* I thought it d be fun to hang out with the clique and the new young bloods for an all new experience..
I need to do something out of the world! Group night cycling is one of them!!! or Yatching anybody?!? :)
okay.. i really should do my reading now..

"Being Eldest"
Over yesterday's luncheon, we found out a common trait among most of the collics within the company - we are all the eldest!
while it may just be a puuuuuurrrrre coincidence, i have this faintest impression that the eldest within the family carries more desirable qualities than the younger one when it comes to employability.
it includes holding more responsibilities. Daily tasks are more often done by the da ge or da jie. I remember vividly how when I was growing up with my cousins (2 yrs and 3 years apart respectively) in my grandma's house, the eldest cousin who happens to be the only MALE among us, had to do all the sweeping! :)
in my teenage till early 20-ish years of growing up with my own younger siblings, I also found myself doing more household chores than them. My mum doesnt draw out a schedule of chores for us. Neither does she insist tt I do. I just naturally picked up the broom more often then the sisters.
also, if we talk in the context of a pack with a leader within, the leader always sees it as a need to set a good example for its followers. They hunt, and teach the pack how to hunt. Or they hunt, and let the pack enjoy the fruits of their labor. The eldest now become the leader of the pack and its behaviour is subconsciously shaped to positively influence the pack. More often than not, the spoilt younger ones within the pack is so used to enjoying the fruits of the leader's labor and they become lazy. So the leader continues to hunt. If the pack refuses to hunt, the leader hunts for them.
It is this common trait of responsibility and ability to withstand hardship within the eldest that enhances their ability to survive in the wild, and makes them a better employee choice than the spoilt younger one who is so used to being served. :)
I do see a trend within my circle of friends.
But of cos I dont speak for everybody. Because I know there are some exceptions! :)

NEVERLAND Range Investigators Discover Corpse of Real Michael Jackson
*omg*
apparently the real MJ has been dead more than 18-20 years! and the much hyped about dead MJ could be the psycho who killed the real one and took over his identity!
that explains all the bizarre behaviour that made news after the weird looking creature, whom we know as MJ, appeared in his plastic-y face!!
I cant wait for further juicy findings!

the law of demand and supply
Just 2 days ago, Jetstar flashed a huge advert on the straits times on CHEAP AIRFARES!
And I made a mental note to myself to check out the rates after I am done with the papers. but as usual, scooby-dooed brain me forgot to check out after I was done with my daily morning read.
So yesterday, while I was reading the straits times again, the advert caught my eye. I checked out the fare prices and saw the BEST deal of S$20, 2 way, tax inclusive air tic to BKK!!! Top up S$30 more to get an additional 20kg luggage space! and flying end of this month!
But half an hour later, the price increased to S$200 ish, 2 way, EXCLUDES tax!!!
I busied myself the whole morning finding the next best slots (checked through the prices for ALL weekends of July and August) and coordinating time and budget availabilities of the 2 person whom I know could respond and decide fast to my impromptu date!
we were really racing against time as the price changed within the timeframe of filling up the purchase particulars!
T'was a crazy morning but the efforts were fruitful. :) however, we will have to wait till end Aug for the trip..
So sorry to those whom I did not manage to ask as I wanted a verrrrry fast response and only 2 names came up to mind when I had to make tt hasty booking :)
it was all initiated, decided and purchased within the 2 hours of yesterday morning..
I checked the airfares again this morning for those of you who may be intereested to go but it had jet up to S$363 nett for the same flights...tts how the market reacts to reach an equilibrium. I did not expect it to actively equilibrate itself so fast!!
if u dont mind paying that + share a room with us (or we can get another room), go get your tics ok?!!! :) if not, we will lug back some goodies for you :)

going bonkers
I just told the collics over lunch tt i am sooooo NOT USED to my life now and apparently they found it amusing..
I have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do after 6pm each day except to go home for dinner, walk my dog, watch the primetime TV programmes from 7pm - 11pm. ask me what happened to Sun Jie and Song Qiao @ 9pm, or what happened to the pair of pearl earring @ 7pm, I can narate it all out for you. Lets not make it sound sooooo boring. I do go on dates with N sometimes and we are trying to exercise together at least once a week - at least for we are trying to adhere to this regime for these 2 weeks. And I do occasionally...VERY occasionally have dinner appointments with frens on weekdays.. STILL, it still makes my life BORING!!!!!!
So, the conclusion was - I need to find a hobby!!!
But I thought eat, sleep and rot were my ultimatum favoritest hobbies ALL ALONG! But now that I get to introduce these hobbies into my lifestyle, it suddenly doesn't seem to be too appealing..
I need new ones to keep my sanity level normal!!

Incomparable
it was the work-life balance that I looked forward to while I was slogging my ass off for the 4 years before last month
it was the pleasure of spending more time with baby boy tt kept bogging my mind while I worked
it was the desired certainty of daily hours & job scope and the free weekends tt I yearned to have
HOLA! my prayers were answered! :)
yet, now that I have landed myself in a job that promises 9-5, no super tight deadlines, no numerous bosses to deliver to and with some biz trips thrown in, I am not feeling as happy as those days where I just slogged and had my peers to grump to. Not to mention those time where I entered the office at mid morning, took looong lunches and tea breaks, bitched over lunch/tea/dinners, voiced out my thoughts loud while ploughing thru the docs or the inbox and had someone to entertain me back..
Sigh...
In exchange for all the above + the super late hours, I get a quieter life here in my very own cubicle, doing work + some other personal things, fixed lunch hour (sometimes exceed a little bit lar), go home on time and go home without the laptop.

the hots for movies
due to job requirements, N & I started on a movie spree since last week to keep ourselves up to date with the latest shows.
We paid the premium sneaks for our bumblebee adventure some time last week or last last week. And the recent weekend, we got our eyes glued to the 3D specs while sitting through ICE AGE!
I rate 5 stars for 3Ds!! :)
Homey thots - prolly a 3D theatre in one of our spare rooms next time! :)
