Food, friends and insects

THE CHEF CHALLENGE!
(5 June 2010: with new challengers, SS & YN)
Flaming HOT after taste! Shiok!
I still prefer the way it is done in Jerry's (than Sunset's).
There were talks about the Buckaroo's which we had looooong time ago! I actually forgotten about that particular date! *the importance of a diary*
We free rided on their venue research *heh* Cos even though they decided to get hitch later than us, they decided to have an earlier wedding than us. 1.1.11. GREAT. No clash now :) They can be each other's brothers :p And hence I am already double booked on that day.. :S

Earlier before, we did a catchup with the girlies. Rejoiced over TWO birthdays and TWO engagements!!
Really a major catchup session, I wished I had more time.

THE PREMIUM KOREAN BEEF
(7 June 2010: With Karen, Martin & Dylan)

N wanted to share these prime cuts with people he loves :) The catchup dinner has been postponed from April to May to June! Cos it wasnt easy for ALL to be in Singapore at the same time. They almost went ahead without me while I was in Ho Chih Min. But their daughter(s) very sweetly said she wanted Shwu jiejie to go *swoons* though they didnt manage to turn up due to camp commitments >.<
Still. such sweet gestures. I feel LOVED.. :)

We did it the Korean way. Han Sang. No need salt and pepper to taste, it was just good on its own! And I found out I'm not the only one who hates beefy smelly cuts ;p They even served cinnamon tea!!! I tried to search for it in vain during Korea. Was told it has to be brewed aka no 3-in-1 :(:(
Luckily the traditional Korean restaurants in Singapore sell them! *major loves*

THE SUNDAY ACTIVITY
(6 June 2010: Hort Park)

See what the man is up to..
He got sooooo interested in a piece of leaf...
Great eyesight. keen eye for crawlies. That's the man for u! :D
He actually spotted a pretty worm on the leaf!! :):) I was intrigued by its beauty too... So we stayed there for 30minutes?? in order to get a good shot. Too bad twas too windy, the leaves were swaying and we got no proper one.. :(

This is MY best..not sure about his DSLR.
More sightings within the park..

Interestingly!!!

WORMS WERE HAVING SEX!!!
Spotted these worms in pairs (one mounted on top of the other) crawling around!! I excitedly told the man to come over get some sexshots *hoho*

A gecko camouflaged within the leaves :) Spotted it cos the leaves rustled while it was trying to catch a butterfly. we didnt stay long enough to watch it prey successfully cos weather was tooo damn hot.

This week's back to kicking some asses! Women only get off days once a month! BOO! But still better than the men, who gets NONE. Time for bed! And be ready to kickass tomorrow!

Short Rendezvous: 22 - 26 May 2010

What we were up to over the looooong weekend!
We went in search of insects at the park after leaving the little boy with the groomers. That gave us a good 3 hour to catch up with each other  with some crawlies. -___-"

They say there's always a woman behind every successful man.

There I was. Right behind. Capturing his photog moments :)

Back to rendezvous days with the Jap bestfriends whom we won many pictionary with! Cos in Atsu's words, "although I can draw well, we lost due to our limited vocabulary.."
*heehee*

His words holds true to this!!
Guan Yin well drawn eh? Here, he was trying to illustrate to us how the brand CANON came about! It was actually derived from Guan Yin! The man behind canon must have been a Buddhist!

And a chronogical documentary of our merry making rendezvous..

Day 1 - Sunset Grill and Pub, Chomp Chomp

Biru, many glasses of milk and water (not in pic)
The first plate of Buffalo wings - Level 1. Atsu is a very ambitious man. He wanted to try level 30/35 when we told him about the board of honour!! Lucky we convinced him to try out level 1 and 3 first...
Bottom left: level 1
Bottom right: level 3!!! (Looks the same but damn HOT!!)
We stopped at 3 and headed Chomp Chomp for more local delights cravings..

Day 2 - Kovan, Hougang Mall, My House, Red Star, Marina Barriage, Geylang

Breakfast at their favorite chicken rice stall in Kovan. The whole hawker centre was closed down for renovations but luckily the chicken rice stall is one of the fewwww stalls that rented a space in the makeshift hawker... *whew*

There was also an oyster omelette (not in pic).

Then we headed Hougang Mall for some Or Nee! (Mari's fave!!) and to my house to see the little baby :)

Luncheon was done in Red Star, another one of our faves cos of its traditional setting. The waitresses push the dimsum carts around!
Atsu's first time there. Cos Mari's attempt to bring him there failed ;p she only remembered it was near diving school and within a HDB.. hahaha..So they had a hard time trying to find THAT correct HDB while riding around...

We headed to Marina. Stopped at Peninsula and Funan for the 2 men to accomplish their work. Atsu's office work and N's camera lust. Bagged the better tripod, though it was way above our budget. N&I always set a budget before a purchase but always fail to adhere strictly to it.. -__-" like that how to save up for marriage??!!

Anyways, it served its good purpose IMMEDIATELY! So good buy! :)
Brought it to the rooftop carpark and monkeyed around. That's when we realised his camera has a function for 10 consecutive shots. TEN!!! TEN leh!!! U can do 3 jumps within a take!!

Then we headed to the Barrage. Jap's first time, not amazing. Our first time too, amazing not? o_O

Aim of the day was to get good sunset shots. So we wait.... and had a cuppa in the Cafe. Yes, picnic-goers. There is a cafe there! :)
Right before sunset. A coupla more monkey shots with the TEN shots function. :):):):):)
Reminisce!

An attempt to do a dragon shot ;p

And the paparazzi in me... ;p
Sunset done, we headed to more FOOD!!
GEYLANG!! Beef horfun!
That wasnt all. there was also a Yam ring and another plate of vege (not in pic)
The xxx th time we went there for dinner. There were many done with their friends and families when they visited Singapore. That said, we realised that we havent been to any of the places that we had been frequenting with the Japs. Think we got boring after they left *heh*

Day 5 - Vivocity, Airport
Visited National Geographic to document down some antiques for Atsu. :) The man flew off that morning for another country.. Mari's flight was at night.. So we had a farewell dinner and sent her to the airport..
Last dinner in Singapore (for this time round) had to be a local fare! So Republic Foodcourt is the answer! Where else to get Bah Kut Teh and Laska together to satisfy Mari's cravings?! :)
Of course it didnt just stop at Bah Kut Teh and Laksa... There was sucha huge spread of local fare! We had to get morrre! :):) Popiah, braised trotters and chinese rojak.

And since we had time, some desserts and chillax. New place in Vivo! We like!! :)
Happy with our yummy and beautiful cakes :)

***THE END***

To be continued in in the later half of 2010 :)

Bwing Party One - Level 2

We were all set to go on a Buffalo Wings (Bwing) party on Friday night! But were still pitifully trying to find friends to go on this quest with us during the day :D

Twas a tough seach, cos it was soooooo last minute! But we found some like minders who didnt mind the impromptu date :)

The participants :) 6's the BEST number to go to this party, cos they serve in 1/2 or full dozen. If u want to complete the quest till the 35th level, and hence own a stake on the billboard of honor, u need to eat minimal of each level :) We started with level 2 again cos we had *er hemz* amateurs with us! :p

The date I brought along, Ms Ong. We almost went on a solo date together cos both the boyfrens were working OT on a Friday night ^_^
Twas such a coincidence she asked me out to dinner a short while after N told me he had to work late tt night. I laughed cos I knew her bf was working late tt night too! I actually asked Dia to the Bwing party but she had work to complete tt night. London times really kill ppl eh? Coincidentally, Dia and Ms Ong's bf are collics!!
And I was still musing over Dia and my lunch date's shock over our 20-year friendship :D we have so much to share! and now, I m even acquainted with her collic! haha! The lunch date is also a friend we got to know yeaaaaars ago at some part time job which both of us got together! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. how often do u get selected to work the same part time job with ur fren??!

He arrived @ 10ish-11. And we saved 2 wings for him :) Verdict - wings still tasted good even after being in the open air for at least an hour!
The date and date of the date N brought along :D

We really need to plan such outings a little earlier next time. Save us from getting into frantic situations of getting people soooo last minute!
Then again, that's the thrill aint it?
