::Nigelrene Loft:: RATTAN LIGHT

The only thing that was executed according to original googlesketchup plan - The rattan light for our balcony!
This ball of cane costs $120 after discount but I am not complaining! :)

Catching Up II

Our FIRST momsie in the Honeybunch clique!
My GAWD!! Friends are popping all around me!!!

Catching up!

The japs flew in specially for a day to have dinner with us last week. So we went back to a place where we had mannnnnny fond memories and great variety of local food.
CHOMP CHOMP!
We did a sleepover at N's with a mini post bdae celebration for Mari that night. Did a last DIMSUM brekkie before heading for the airport. Geylang is the place to go if u need a quick local fix - opens 24 hours! :p

Big wonder how we managed to get our arse to Pulau Ubin for an off road ride straight after we sent them off to the airport at 630am in the morning!

::Nigelrene Loft:: CEILING

After going into great lengthy research on the ceiling options and ruling out those that would clutter the space above, ie L boxes, we have come to a greater conclusion that we can live with the L box for now because we wanted to have a ceiling fan for practical purposes. Also, the possibilities of breeding any sorts of creepy crawliers in the boxed up ceiling above didnt quite appeal now that we are the adults of the house who has to do all the dirty work. tsk.. pa and ma no longer at our disposal to kill those things :(

Here's Day 20 at our place and we found the L-boxes up. We found a slight misalignment that didnt flush well with the walls - on the right side of the ceiling in
the middle of photo. That was apparently done like that because of some miscommunications/misinterpretations from a previous project conversation we had with everybody (electrician, carpenter, contractor).. haha.. will need some aesthetics coverup from our carpenter.
Actually I m abit paranoid over how the overall result will look like. There can never be enough planning or a finalised draft so to say on a project as big as your home. Some days I wonder how each color we choose, each piece of furniture we bought and each lighting we put will look like when placed together and get secretly scared that it wouldnt turn out beautiful.

Just 2 days ago, I had a terrible nightmare that someone replaced all the square downlights that I bought for the L boxes into a mixture of rounded + square + tubes of 2 LED spotlights, and they were erected in a non symmetrical manner on ouor ceiling :(

Guess its the unwanted stress from all the plannings, shoppings, meetings and wanting to build a beautiful home that's getting into me.

The mind needs to take its well-deserved break! And guess what?! A break it is!
We are going for a dive trip this weekend!!!
Nothing beats swimming with the fishies and blowing bubbles. Because that's all you do on a dive trip. EAT. SLEEP. DIVE!!! (and in repeat mode)

Happy Friday!! :)

Indoor shoot

We didnt really fancy an indoor shoot and wanted to just go all out for an outdoor one with the the nature, the birds and the trees. We were even contemplating one with the fishes but the technical resources werent that readily available - the best we found was a snorkel shoot but N didnt quite like the photo finishing from said studio. We wanted to wedding photos to be as real-life as possible without looking too poseur-ish. I even wanted a trishaw shot because that was a daily ride in part of my childhood!

Posing in front of some made-up background of chandeliers/colored canvases on some kind of victorian sofa/stools while staring dreamily at something placed at a 45 degree angle to the camera just didnt appeal to me. I think I can still live with made up backgrounds and the fancy chairs of sorts.. It actually is the 45 degree imaginery object in the studio that gets to me. O_o" Even if the photo is supposed to depict the level of love the couple has - Oh we are soooo in love, we can stare dreamily in the same direction because we are blissfully drowned in L.O.V.E. *sigh* Seriously there has to be a better way to portray LOVE! What's there to see that is 45 degree to your right inside a studio huh? Not like there could be a bird or a rainbow or a dolphin right?

So we all along just wanted to go for the candid options of an outdoor shoot. But N really wanted to don on an oriental suit, and me, a fairytale suit. We actually just wanted to jump into one each for a quick shot before setting off to the beach for our outdoor shoot. But the studio offered us another Saturday for an indoor shoot :) yay! to another day of looking fabulous in my long eye lashes. huh huh. So we were in the studio 1 week before the shoot to choose the gowns! That's how efficient  ;)

Since we already had the desired styles in mind, it didnt take long to sieve out what I want - after stepping in and out of about 10 gowns in the chingchong and dreamy styles, I picked out 2 favorites!
Some of the photos I secretly snapped in my 30 sec alone time in the dressing room for each dress before I call out for help with the zippers ;p

In the CHING CHONG style

In the DREAMY style
Scheduling 2 photoshoots within a week from each other + not born with the natural talent of posing = Super tired and I think we did succumb to the photographer's calling to look 45 degrees to our right without putting up a fight. OMG! But that's like the simplest and most idiot proof pose! whahaha! So I guess I better eat my words right now in case I end up selecting some of those very superficial photos for our wedding album! Heh.

Reno Day 13 - BAY WINDOW LEDGE

No more rough surfaces on your precious ass!
The solid surface top is up on our bay window ledge!!
I asked for a rounded finishing so little Murphy wouldnt knock his silly head against the tip of the ledge when he gets toooooo excited! :) Such great length put into family planning!

And the electrician was almost 90% done with the rewiring of the house. We will have lights soon! No more chasing people out at dusk! :D
But first, we need to go lights shopping!

I eat I shoot I re-create II

There's another reason for me to hit the road back to Melaka again.
Until we find new khakis to convoy in together, for safety reasons, for greater foodfare potential in numbers or simply, sometimes 2 is just a bore, I ll just have to make do with whatever 3-hour spare time I have on hand for some cravings re-creation. GOOGLE makes life sooooo simple!

3 for $10 durian

+

a LETHAL mix of MAOSHANWANG ($15)
I actually just wanted to have a side by side tasting to find out what's the difference. Seriously, for the price difference, MAOSHANWANG offers more meat than the 3 durians combined. Lesson learnt: just get the MAOSHANWANG next time!

Cream them all for the fillings.

Make a nasty batter. Your choice how creamy or sweet you want it to be ;)

And put them together!!!

It was verrrry well received by mommy's friends!

Now, I just have to work on the aesthetics again...here's proof!
:D
